2009 Hemisherectomy Conference and Reunion

Last week, I had the privilage of covering the Annual Hemispherectomy Conference and Reunion here in Baltimore.
I got to meet many amazing families, who have forever touched my life. These kids were amazing, and what they have gone through should be an inspiration to all.
For those who do not know what a hemispherectomy is, it involves removing one entire side of a patients brain. Either the right or the left hemisphere. This is done to correct violent paralizing siezures that prohibit an individual form experiencing a quality of life, that most of us simply take for granted.

One of the physicians that I got to meet was Dr. Ben Carson, MD, world renowned neurosurgeon from Johns Hopkins. The man is an incredible doctor and human being. The conference was long, and I am still processing photos, but it was worth every minute.
